Central Institute of Civil Service (Lower Myanmar) was established in 1965. Since 1965, Agriculture and Livestock Breeding subjects were delivered as Economics subjects. Later, economic planning and cooperatives subjects were added to deliver. Before 1988, the subjects disseminated were Socialist Economic Planning, Long-term and Short-term Economic Policies and Planning, the Situation of implementation of Planning, regional development plans, current economic situation of Myanmar and future plans, the techniques of study and analysis of reports to parliament and budgeting. Moreover field trips were arranged and performed to study people’s lives and collected data from cases to review. Department of Economics has been making review and revise its curriculum development in line with the Age and system of the Nation. Thus, the existing subjects such as Economics, Rural Development, Statistics, Agriculture and Livestock Breeding were changed in 1980,1988,1996 and 2002 for regular courses. In 2008, CICS prepared to open Middle Level Officer Management Training Course. Department of Economics also prepared to contribute its services by drawing new curriculum and selecting resource persons. According to the guidance of UCSB chairman, Department of Economics contributed its performance to open Post Graduate Diploma in Civil Service Management Course in 2017 and Advanced Diploma in Civil Service Management Course for Middle Level officer in 2018.
The Department of Economics at the Central Institute of Civil Service ( Lower Myanmar ) provides programmes in teaches about national Economics in which economics teacher shares knowledge about business, macroeconomics, microeconomics, economic development and economic planning. We will build a strong training environment relevant to the needs of the real world. Through training, the Department of Economics will give our trainees to be able to serve for interest of the Nation in their respective sector.
